MMMiami

After just returning from a much needed escape to Miami, Florida, I can't help but share the culinary highlights which left me night after night saying, mmmmm.

FOOD

The new 'it' restaurant Zuma located in the Epic hotel in downtown Miami is the quintessential Japanese fusion restaurant, inspired by the informal Japanese dining style, izakaya. It's no surprise that Zuma can also be enjoyed in London, Hong Kong, Istanbul and Dubai. It was at this meal that I gave in to trying black cod and yellow tail for the very first time (shocking, I know). The high ceilings, open atmosphere make Zuma the perfect locale for dining with a big group (we were 7).
For a quaint, no nonsense meal where you truly can wear your ripped denim shorts and Tee, The Burger and Beer Joint is THE place to grab and burger and beer. Go for the wagyu beef (it's worth the extra $3) and choose their homemade signature sauces, like the chipolte ketchup. If you're a pickle fan like myself, don't worry they don't skimp. If you're up to a challenge, B&BJ has one for you: Polish off the 10lb "mother burger" in 2 hours, and the $75 meal is free.

Unlike BB&J, Asia de Cuba located in the Mondrion Hotel is everything but a joint. As you walk into the highly designed South Beach hotel, an eerily beautiful face of a girl welcomes (or shocks) you in the lobby.

To the right, a show-stopping black patent winding staircase grounds the room. To the left, an all-white wonderland is that of Asia de Cuba. Like to sit outside? Enjoy a magnificent view of the Miami skyline and intercoastal. Not to mention, the incredibly over sized red canopy lounge and the largest lamp shade you will ever see, that defines the bar.
Back to the menu. The best dish was irrefutably the braised beef ribs (which literally melt in your mouth) and the piece de resistance, the banana split desert. To die for.
