Well Equipped

I've forever been on the hunt for the ultimate silk blouse. The closest I've come to finding perfection is a French Connection cream silk boyfriend(ish) blouse that now reminds me of a mens pyjama shirt - not in a cute way. While the pyjama look is a new trend for Spring, a classic silk blouse is a wardrobe essential.

I recently discovered these Equipment silk blouses at Intermix on a recent trip to Miami. Available in a range of neutrals and brights, there is a colour for every day of the week. The silk feel and tailored yet flowy cut looks effortlessly chic tucked into a pair of khaki drop-waist trousers or loosely worn atop a great pair of slim jeans (like my new J Brand Agnes Twill pants seen here).

While I would love to candy coat my closet in Equipment blouses, I'll stick with black to wear with a bold sequin skirt and red to complement Indigo denim (a gorgeous combination).

Available online at Revolve Clothing ($188).

Daily Style Vice

I love the retro and futuristic design of Karen Walker limited edition sunglasses. The architectural shapes complement the tortoise and brown in the frames, creating visual interest. I'll be channeling Penny Lane in Almost Famous in these cool shades at Coachella this April.

Available on shopbop ($185-216).

Stars Blush at Golden Globes

The stars stepped out in a spectrum of blush, pink and red at the Golden Globes on January 16, a love-ly departure from blah black. Top style nods go to these three featured blushing beauties. While I loved the daring dresses donned by January Jones and Claire Danes, Natalie Portman stole the scene and showcased her baby bump in a stunning Viktor & Rolf gown. Who said modesty was a bad thing on the red carpet?

Trend Watch: Country Chic

Last night I went into Country Strong with no expectations.  I've never listened to country music nor have I understood the big fuss over Gwyneth Paltrow, but nevertheless I gave it a shot.  To sum up, I surprisingly loved the film - the plot was captivating from start to finish, the actors could actually sing, and the outfits, though deliberately tacky at times, represented country chic at its best. From suede to sequins to fringe, Southern style is going to take fashion by storm.

Blue Valentine

There's something so perfect about the contrast of cognac and blue. The surprising combination of natural leather and vibrant or neon hues (blue being my favourite) is a big style do in accessories and shoes for Spring. Here are three pieces I'm coveting right now:

1. Fendi satchel
Why? The subtle lettering and glimmer of gold work beautifully with blocks of blue

2. Bulgari tote
Why? The knotted, textured handle against intricate gold hardware can be worn day or night

3. Cole Haan Mackenzie Oxfords
Why? The patch of denim and tone-on-tone laces give a style from seasons past some much-needed pep in its step
